You still have time to enter all the 4 challenges of July and win some of the new Cuttlebug embossing folders. Have I gotten you interested? THIS is the place to go.
I can finally present the new Victoria folder Provo Craft is launching at CHA.
For those who know me well, I have been long waiting for such an elegant embossing folder as my Textile folder is already tired of me using it over and over again *wink*!
This weeks challenge over the Cuttlebug Challenge blog was to make an altered project using the Victoria folder. You don't have to have the folder to participate but NO CARDS are ALLOWED!
So I decided to alter those chipboard coasters that have been sitting around for 2 years.
Altered Coasters
Supplies:
• chipboard coasters
• cardstock to fit the coasters(I used up some scraps)
• cuttlebug machine and folder
• ink pads or acrylic paint
• Mod Podge, decoupage or book binding glue
• brush, craft cutter, sanding paper or file
How to make:
• Cut cardstock to coaster size
• emboss cardstock
• sponge some ink or acrylic paint over the raised surface
• adhere to coaster with Mod Podge
• when glue is dry, round carstock corners with your cutter, then sand the edges
• cover front and sides of coaster with 1-2 layers of Mod Podge to make it waterproof
Variations:
You can experiment with different paints, colors intensity when painting over the embossed surface. Smudging a little bit off the raised surface will give you a velvet look like on my black sample below.
Also try painting the cardstock before embossing then sand the raised surface to reveal the initial paper color or use core' dinations cardstock.
Meda these are `beautiful` I must try these TFS
