My First Etsy Sale

I just shipped my first Etsy order.
I had made it a goal to make a few sales quickly after opening the shop and those sales came very quickly, within 1 week from opening.

For a moment it felt just like my old web design team manager job. Every mistake I made could be reflected in my shop's feedback and I felt pressure. I have been making invitations for 9 years it always felt so natural to deal with customers. Where does this strange feeling come from? I will analyze that and share it with you in a future post. But since my computer time is limited with 2 little ones I will just share my positive experience.

The great thing about this first sale is it resulted into a new beautiful design that I immediately fell in love with: Flutter by Baby Shower Invitation.

Mickey Mouse Baptism Invitation (Invitatie pentru botez cu Mickey Mouse)

Once upon a time there was a beautiful young lady who got married to the prince of her dreams.
Two years later, a young prince was born and they baptized him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I had the honor of making the invitations for this special event as I did for his parents' wedding.

Here is my interpretation of a paper Mickey Mouse. All the hats and bows were hand cut and mounted on foam pads for dimension. My favorite part was seeing all these Mickey Mice together. I was almost sorry to let them go.

Baby Girl Box and Frame Gift

Another of my custom designed gift sets. I really need to get a new tube of orange acrylic after this one.

It's such a gloomy weather and raining. I don't feel like saying more words.
Enjoy the bright colors.

Little Angels Vintage Frame for Baby Room

Yet another frame I made for another friend.

The frame is not actually vintage, but I made it look like vintage to match the vintage chabby-country feel of the home it was designed for.

The text is a blessing from the Bible (Gen. 48:15,16).

Flowers and Butterflies Handpainted Baby Frame

Since we are in the baby projects area, I thought it was time to show you this frame I made for little Miriam a while ago.

Her room is decorated in purple shades, so I painted the frame purple, then painted some white flowers and added 2 butterfly dimensional stickers.

I haven't seen it with a picture or hand print yet.

Baby I Love You Album (II)

I promised to show you progress of my baby album/pregnancy journal.
I haven't added any photos yet, but I did make a few more pages.

This is the first page:

baby mini album first transparency page
You probably can't realize yet that it's actually a small transparency page with a photo mat, but look at the next page:

Enjoy The Journey

baby mini album enjoy the journey page

It says "Enjoy the Journey" and I have been enjoying it so far. I have also learned new things about myself. Since it's the first time in my life I weigh more than 90 pounds I realized that having too many of them does make life a little harder. So I am so glad that my busy life does not allow me to gain weight. Hopefully I wont have too many extra at the end of these 9 months.

cuttlebug be inspired challenge logo
The tag is from Crafty Secrets and probably the birds too, but I have had them for a while and I can't remember. However, Crafty secrets is sponsoring this weeks Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge #101 "Nostalgia" and I had a great time working with the images they provided the DT with.

I accidentally pulled out the brown cardstock that the tag is mounted on and I really liked the look, so I ended up adding an eyelet and some fibers and made a whole page around it.
Here's a closer look:

Best of Times

The left side is unfinished, but I do love the page on the right. The clock image is from is from a Teresa Collins kit and the text around it says "Best of times". This really is the best time for having a baby in our lives so I had to incorporate the clock.

The clock is mounted on a transparency with a brad and has room for journaling on the back.

That's it for now. Thank you for visiting. I will show you the next pages as I go on with my little album.

"Baby, I Love You" Mini Album

Last week I received an email from Court at Court's Crafts asking what was "Meda's little miracle" that the girls were talking about on the Cuttlebug Challenge forum.

So I guess it's time to reveal the big mystery: Meda is 3 1/2 months pregnant, doing very well and hungry all the time.

And this is the first thing I created for my unborn baby:

It's a Basic Gray mini album that I am going to use like some kind of pregnancy journal. So you are going to see more of it as I decorate the pages.

I chose these colors for the cover because I don't know if it's a boy or girl yet so I decided to use some of my favorite colors that remind me of nature.

Materials:
Paper: chocolate color cardstock, paper scraps, Cosmo Cricket "Earth Love"
Cuttlebug: Victoria folder, Persia die
Stamps: My Pink Stamper
Other: Sizzix swirl die, handcut flower, pearl, Sakura glaze pen, Cropadile

It seems I am a double lucky girl today. Once because my cropadile arrived in the mail and second because the sun came out for just enough I needed to take a quick photo of the album and show you my project for today's Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge #99.

This week's sponsor is My Pink Stamper and I was sent some word stamps from the Family and Friends line to play with. I am sure Betty sent me the baby word intentionally. You did right, Betty, because as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to start decorating that BG album I had bought for this very purpose.

Your challenge for this week is to make a card, layout altered item etc. and use any sentiment on the front. Don't forget the cuttlebug. It's still a cuttlebug challenge. Add your link to the In Linkz gadget here by Tuesday, September 7 and check back on Wednesday to see if you won.

Giraffe and Mushrooms Shadow Box for Baby Prints (Rama pentru amprente bebe cu ciuperci si girafa)

giraffe and mushroom shadow box for baby prints
It's Wednesday, so time for Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge.
E miercuri, deci e timpul pentru Cuttlebug Be Inspired.

This week the challenge is SHADOW BOXES.
Saptamana acesta, tema e DIORAME (adica rame adanci, eventual acoperite cu sticla).

My project is designed to match the baby frame and album from 2 weeks ago.
I gave up the large red mushroom at the last moment and replaced it with the giraffe since this gift is for a baby boy and I didn't want it to look too girly.

The mushroom paper was donated by Cosmo Cricket and this particular design is one of my favorite from their "Earth Love" line.

Baby Name Frame and Album

It's that time of the week again...
time for Cuttlebug Be inspired #79!

After so many weeks with no cuttlebug projects, here are two for this week's challenge: Baby Shower

I created a name frame and a hand stitched album with lovely papers from Core'dinations and Cosmo Cricket, not to forget my cuttlebug that makes lovely mushrooms :)

P.S.: Sorry for the brief post. I have lots of invitations, menus and stuff to ship tomorrow...! Let the wedding season beggin and all good wishes of happiness to the young ladies getting married this year. May God bless you and your marriages!

[Edit]

The mushrooms
are made using the paper piecing technique with a stamp from Digital Delights by Louby Loo. Same as in this one. Full post here.

The porcupines
are decoupaged from the "Earth Love" pack from Cosmo Cricket.

Baby Announcements (Anunturi nou-nascut)

baby announcement in box
These are the first baby announcements I have ever made. And I am glad I did and they are not pink.

I received an e-mail from my brother-in-law this past December asking if I could make some baby announcements for Emilia, the daughter they were expecting.
For those who remember my Princess Emily birthday set, I can now tell you that it was inspired by my new niece.
In decembrie cumnatul meu imi scria intrebandu-ma daca as putea sa fac niste felicitari prin care sa anunte venirea pe lume a fiicei lor Emilia. Pentru cei care imi citesc blogul in mod regulat, pot acum sa va spun ca setul pentru ziua de nastere a printesei Emily a fost inspirat de numele noii mele nepoate, pe atunci in burtica mamei ei.

baby announcements with storks

They requested a stork and said they liked this card I made last summer. So I started out with storks and purples. I wish I had a stork stamp this big, but since I didn't I had to go digital. Here's the tutorial.
Aici e tutorialul.

butterfly on a box
The boxes and butterflies are my own signature and green is one of the colors in Emilia's room.

baby announcements in boxes
Well, just a little pink on the inside to make it more girly and this pink is a perfect match for the lilac I used as main color.

baby announcement inside
I also made some envelopes instead of boxes for the cards that will be sent through mail. The boxex are too fragile to be mailed individually.

Butterflies, Babies and Roses (Fluturasi, bebelusi si trandafiri)

cuttlebug butterflies
Have you ever seen any baby project on my blog?

I can't say I haven't made a couple, but I have a feeling you will be seeing a lot of those now that I have 1 baby nephew and 1 newborn niece, plus so many of my friends having their firstborns or second children.

So, these lovely butterflies are going to end up on Emilia's birth announcements. I am not using traditional baby girl colors because I really hate that baby pink when overused.

Stay tuned for the final result. I am working hard to finish them today so they can leave for Germany with tomorrow's post.

Va stept in curand pentru a vedea rezultatul final.

roses for handmade by meda

I received this beautiful bouquet of roses from Irina. Thank you very much! I am so thrilled that more and more Romania women are embracing crafting in their spare time.

In honor of this I am awarding the "Beautiful Blog" prize to my 2 newfound Romanian cardmaking friends (Laura from India and Maria from Alba Iulia) and an older blogger whose blog is my place to go when I need some peace with God: Andreea.

In onoarea cestui fapt, acord premiul "Beautiful Blog" noilor mele prietene Laura din India si Maria din Alba Iulia precum si unei mai vechi autoare de blog, Andreea, unde merg atunci cand caut putina pace cu Dumnezeu.
