Pink Purple Silver Masquerade Invitations

I woke up this morning to a few inquiries for masquerade or prom invitations. This is the time of year when I generally get to make lots of invitations for different events other than weddings.

I love the challenge of using palettes of 3-4 colors. Here is one of my favorites from this year. I made them for Jade's Masquerade Birthday Ball and Jade was such a pleasure to work with. I will always hold her a special place in my heart.



Above are some of the few pictures I took before shipping them. The next ones are samples from before production.

They Come and Go...

Have you ever wondered how my happy place looks while I am working?
I really like it. It's color everywhere. I am rarely working on only one project at a time. Can you see the gold butterflies I was preparing for Paul and Eliza's invitations?


This is how it looks when I open the supply packages. It's like Christmas all year round.


And this is when I say goodbye. The finished invitations always remain so little with me!

With winter knocking at the door, I thought I could finally show you these white wedding invitations. I definitely love white on white. Remember the ones I made last winter for CHA?

Monica's Vintage Pink Invitations (Invitatiile roz vintage ale Monicai)

Monica's invitations vere very fun to make. They were all different but had some common elements.
Unfortunately I only took a few quick pictures before mailing them so I myself don't even know how they all looked like.

A fost foarte interesant sa lucrez la invitatiile Monicai deoarece toate au fost diferite, avand totusi elemnete comune pentru mentinerea unitatii.
Din pacate am reusit sa fac doar cateva poze inainte sa le trimit, asa ca nici eu nu prea siu cum au arata toate.



I sent a set of 5 (photo above) directly to one of Monica's relatives in Hungary to save on shipping time. I actually tried to choose the most similar ones so they wouldn't have a hard time deciding which one to take.

Am trimis un set de 5 invitatii (poza de mai sus) direct unor rude ale Monicai din Ungaria pentru a economisi timp. Am incercat sa le grupez pe cele mai asemanatoare ca sa nu aiba probleme in a-si alege modelul.


Below are some work-in-progress pictures. You can see I have used the same lace in 2 colors: g pink and peach. All butterflies had flowers and pearls.

Mai jos sunt cateva poze in timp ce lucram la invitatii. Observati acelasi model de dantela in 2 culori diferite: roz-vintage si piersica. Toate au avut flori cu perle pe fluturasi.



I designed the paper for the envelopes myself according to the bride's wishes.
Am creat eu modelul hartiei pentru plicuri dupa indicatiile miresei.

Pink Rose Invitations - on Simplicity and Honesty (Invitatii cu tandafiri roz - despre simplitate si sinceritate)

So often I hear "I want something more simpe" when they actually mean "cheaper".
It bothers me more than I am willing to admit. So much that I even made invitation for $1 instead of $3.50 just for the honesty of telling me "that is how much I can afford".

However this is not the main reason of my post today.
I just wanted to share some of my older designs I used to be very fond of back in 2005.

Last week while we were making an album together my friend Bianca noticed how much my style has changed in the past years.

I pulled out some pink invitations from my box to keep with this month's color theme.

I loved working with Ema. She is one of those rare persons that have the grace of a princess. It is a quality I admire in movies or books describing old times, something that our generation has lost.

A fost o adevarat placere sa lucrez cu Ema, una dintre rarele persoane pe care le cuosc si care mai pastreaza inca feminitatea si gratia aceea specifica printeselor. Din pacate feminitatea e o floare rara in randul generatiei noastre de pantaloni si iPod-uri.


I only made menus and table numbers for Ema, but her stationery did inspire many more, like this chocolate invitation with yellow bow. Another invitation and place cards to follow.

Pentru Ema nu am facut decat meniurile si numerele de masa, insa acesta colectie a inspirat mult mai multe, cum ar fi invitatia ciocolatie cu funda galbena publicata anterior. Urmeaza alta invitatie si carduri de asezare la mese.

Introducing "Simplicity" Invitation Collection and OTWC Challenge #28

Second post today and a new challenge (at least for me).

Although I have prepared lots of pink projects to show you this month, I couldn't help participating in the OTWC Challenge with this yellow chocolate and off white inviation.

This is the inspiration board they had for the challenge. I really love the yellow bouquet and the chocolate cake.

I am so tempted to make an invitation covered in chocolate roses like the cake, but I owe Bianca from Ermiona a more simple collection of invitations fit for small budgets.

Well, here it is: the first "Simplicity" invitation featuring an embossed card in chocolate, a yellow satin ribbon and off white lining for the inside whre the text can be printed in either chocolate or yellow, or both.

Winner of Wedding Challenge #1 and a Theme for Next Challenge

A long time has passed since my wedding challenge trial.
I was really delighted with the participants entries so I decided to go on with it.

It will not be a regular challenge but I will try to make it monthly.


So I was saying.... the winner from Wedding Challenge #1 is.... Tatanky. She interpreted the theme very well and she made an actual set (picture on the right).

Wedding Challenge #2: "Eco Wedding"

This challenge is inspired by Mirela And Mihai's Aluminium Wedding story and also by the large box of paper scraps and other junk I have gathered.

I really have lots of ideas for an Eco and cheap wedding and I am sure you can come up with more:
- use your paper scraps to embellish the wedding stationary (like I did on the card above)
- decorate food cans to make centerpieces or to hold flowers
- make little favor boxes from ribbon spools or other paper rolls

Butterfly Invitations in the Making (Invitatii cu fluturasi in lucru)

Lots of hand cut butterflies. This was how my work table looked one of these days. I wonder if anyone ever realizes how much work went into the invitation they have received. Although I love doing meticulous work, I am currently trying to reduce that amount , but that is another story, meant for another post.

Multi fluturasi decupati manual. Cam asa arata masa mea de lucru una din zilele acestea. Ma intreb daca cei ce le primesc isi dau seama cata munca a implicat fiecare inviatie. Cu toate ca imi place sa fac lucruri meticuloase, incerc acum sa reduc cantitatea de lucru/invitatie. Dar asta e o alta poveste, destinata unui alt articol.

My Handmade Roses and Romantic Invitations (Trandafiri confectionati manual si invitatii romantice)

More often than not I am asked to make extra invitations after sending the main order.
I always purchase extra materials for such cases, but this time I only had 4 extra paper roses and 8 invitations were needed in a short time.

Cel mai adesea se intampla sa mi se comande invitatii suplimentare ulterior trimiteri comenzii principale. In general ma asigur ca am materiale in plus pentru astfel de situatii, dar in acest caz nu mai aveam decat 4 trandafiri de hartie si trebuia sa fac 8 invitatii intr-un timp scurt.


So I proceeded to making my own trying to imitate the originals the best I could.
Asa ca m-am pus pe treaba, incercand sa imit cat mai bine originalul.



The final result (both with my flowers and the purchased ones):

This project involved a lot of work. Each invitation taking over 1 hour to complete but in the end what matteres is that the pleasing result that will probably make someone's day.
Acest proiect a implicat multa munca (peste 1 ora pentru fiecare invitatie), dar pana la urma conteaza rezultatul placut si faptul ca cineva se va bucura de ele.

Gold Inviation with Pearls (Invitatie aurie cu perle)

I don't know how it looks from where you stand, but from my end, it seems like this autumn gold is the color everyone will have at their wedding.
Nu stiu cum se vede de la voi, dar de unde sunt eu, pare ca toamna aceasta toata lumea va avea putin auriu la nunta.



Looking through the stash on my table, I realized I am beginning to like this color myself so I thought I could play around mixing and matching.
Uitandu-ma in gramada de materiale aurii de pe masa de lucru, mi-am dat seama ca incepe sa-mi placa si mie culoarea, asa ca m-am gandit sa ma joc putin cu cateva combinatii.

So here is one of the designs I came up with:

I have actually altered a design I currently have under production, trying to obtain a different look by changing just a few of the elements. The original one has golden rhinestones and feathers, just like this silver invitation I designed in spring.
De fapt invitatia acesta este doar o varianta modificata a uneia pe care o am acum in productie si care este varianta pe auriu a unnui model argintiu creat azi-primavara.

Unfortunateley the picture doesn't show it, but the paper is really thick and shimmery.
Din pacate nu se vede in poza, dar hartia e foarte groasa si e sidefata.

I couldn't decide, but I think I am going to ad a pearl to the envelope flap as well.
Nu m-am putut decide, dar cred ca voi adauga o perla si pe plic.

My favorite Green Wedding Invitations (Invitatii de nunta verzi - preferatele mele)

Elegant Green Invitations for an Elegant Lady (Invitatii verzi elegante pentru o doamna eleganta)

I made these invitations for Cristinas's wedding.
She is one of those elegant ladies with royal-like manners and gestures.
Also one of those brides who knows what she wants but let's the artist do his job, doesn't change her mind often....

Am realizat inviattile acestea pentru nunta Cristinei.
Cristina este una dintre acele femei elegante cu maniere si gesturi regale. De asemenea e una din acele mirese care stie ce vrea lasand totusi artistul sa-si faca munca, nu se razgandeste des, si lista poate contiunua...

Green and White Summer Wedding Invitations (Invitatii alb si verde pentru o nunta de vara)

I designed these green and white invitations for a summer wedding that will take place in a garden near a pool.
Am creat aceste invitatii cu alb si verde pentru o nunta de vara, intr-o gradina langa piscina.

My own wedding colors were green and white so I was so glad to make something special for Raluca.
Si culorile nuntii mele au fost tot verde si alb, deci va imaginati cu cata placere am lucrat la design-ul Ralucai.

In my good tradition, the design she chose is not here, but my favorite is. So.... who can guess which of the 3 designs I like best?
Conform obiceiului meu, invitatia aleasa de ea nu se gaseste printre cele din imagini, dar preferata mea este. Asa ca va provoc sa ghiciti care din cele 3 modele imi place cel mai mult.
